Handmade Leather Flip Flop/Sandals
This beautiful pair of leather flip flops are made from high quality vegetable tan leather and dyed to your specifications. I use 2 pieces of 9 oz. leather with an inner piece of 5 oz. leather for the spacing of the thong and side straps. The bottom rubber sole can be your choice of 4 mm or 6 mm Vibram. The stitching is done using 1.0 cream tiger thread. The sides are burnished using Tokonole and finished with bees wax and then buffed. Each pair is custom made for the wearers feet and below I describe how to measure.
To get an accurate measurement for each foot here is what you will need to do. READ ALL OF THIS FIRST. First, place your foot on a piece of paper (8 1/2” x 11”) and using a pencil/pen trace around your foot with the pencil/pen in a vertical position. Take your time and don’t worry if your tracing line is not that smooth or seems wavy. This is just for sizing and I will modify the tracing so that it flows. Before removing your foot take the pencil/pen and place between your big toe and the next toe where the thong will go. Make a mark as far back as you can between the toes. Next take a cloth measuring tape (if you don’t have that you can use a piece of string and just measure the string) and take a measurement from your instep across your arch to the other side of your foot. Pretty much where the top strap will sit on top of your foot. This will give me a ballpark idea of how far to place the top strap when I start assembling the flip flops. Then write that measurement on the tracing somewhere. When you remove your foot make sure the thong mark is readable and if not just circle it in a bit better. Do this for each of your feet as some people do have feet that are just a bit wider then the other. Lastly, make a straight line somewhere on the tracing that is 3” long. I use this to determine if the scaling is correct when I print it out once you have emailed the tracing to me.
Once your order is placed then scan and email your tracings to: greg.nalley@gmail.com . Please allow approximately 3 weeks to complete the leather flip flops (which will be based on the work load I have at the time). I will contact you when I have begun your flip flops and then again when they are complete and will send you the tracking number once shipped.
