Leather Class Sign Up

What we will make this class?

This is a basic leather class where you will learn basic skills in how to choose your leather, how to design your projects and create templates, how to cut and dye leather, a strong focus on learning to hand saddle-stitch, and all culminating in the making of a bi-fold wallet.

Why a wallet and not a purse or something larger? A wallet is a small enough project that is completable in the time that we will have available. It incorporates many of the same techniques that you will use in creating larger items. It will also teach you to think about how your items goes together and in which order you need to perform certain tasks.

The cost of this class is $650 which includes not only the 16 hours of instruction but also all the tools provided in your tool kit, leather dyes / finishes, and all leather used for your practice as well as the wallet you will make, and any miscellaneous materials needed. The tools in the kit are valued at $220. Tools in leather working can get extremely expensive so I have personally put together this kit from a wide range of suppliers. Some tools alone can cost as much as this entire kit and I have tried to balance the cost of the tools by selecting tools that are of good quality without sacrificing too much in tool quality. These tools will not only get you through making this wallet but many other projects as well. If you are serious about learning leather craft I would stay away from the cheap online leather tool kits. They usually contain many items that you will never use or are of such low quality that they are not worth what you paid.

The minimum age limit for this particular class is 13 and above.
